Each year, the GCAA provides a 12 month course that gives industry professionals an all-encompassing view of the aggregates industry. This course is called Management Development. The 2009 course began on January 8 with the FOCUS: Time Management class.
In addition to the Producer Members, the course is open to Associate Members. A minimum of 15 students were needed to be enrolled to hold the 2009 course. Classes occur once a month and they touch on every aspect of our industry. There are 15 topics covered with some class days featuring multiple topics. The classes are taught by industry professionals who have many years experience in their respective fields. Students who attend range from plant managers to sales reps to mobile equipment operators to accountants and beyond. Students who participate in the course have been identified as potential leaders for their companies.
Finally, the GCAA Management Development course has been approved by the Georgia Department of Technical and Adult Education as a prerequisite for earning a specialized degree in Mining Management. For more on the degree program please visit the Technical School Program page on our website.
